Mall Preferences Essay Example for Free

Mall Preferences Essay Mall Attractiveness and Shopping Preferences is a study conducted to find out what variables attract shoppers to a mall, their preferences and how mall operators should consider this significant analysis to implement an effective strategy to position their strategy. The study involved five major shopping malls in Davao City: SM City Davao, NCCC mall of Davao, Gaisano Mall of Davao, Gaisano South City Mall and Victoria Plaza. Factor analysis is applied for this study and complimented by a cluster analysis of the demographic characteristics of the respondents. The respondents composed of mall shoppers who were equally apportioned across the malls and clustered according to classifications: Traditional shoppers, Destination Shoppers and Enthusiastic shoppers. The result of the study reveals that SM City of Davao is well positioned in attracting shoppers, the mall is favored by customers in terms of mall atmospherics, service, promotion and entertainment. SM is followed closely by NCCC mall of Davao and Gaisano Mall of Davao, while Gaisano South City mall and Victoria Plaza were far behind in their market positioning and viability. Ever since its existence, shopping malls become the integral part of the shoppers’ lifestyle because of the convenience, entertainment and products’ availability it offers to the consumers, no doubt, these establishments helped enhance the day-to-day life of the people. With several malls mushroomed in the city in recent years, people have given wide choices based on their needs and leisure like where to spend time bonding with friends and love ones and where to shop . Mall operators, due to stiff competitions, must decide what positioning strategies they would implement to lure consumers and move ahead with their competitors. In this study, which factor analysis is applied, mall operators were given an idea what are the significant factors that drive shoppers to a shopping mall. The respondents of this study, which were thoroughly clustered into three categories, represent all the socioeconomic classes of the society, which is very specific for the study to have an accurate result in identifying shoppers’ preferences on what mall attributes they will be easily attracted. The study, which revealed SM City of Davao as the most preferred followed by NCC mall of Davao and Gaisano mall of Davao, tells precisely the real and actual sentiments of shoppers in the city on where they would want to go to for pleasure and for shopping activities. I do agree with the result that Gaisano mall of Davao ranked high among the top three malls in terms of accessibility because of its proximity to the downtown area where most students and professionals are living, though the study revealed that this lead is very slim, it is still a big factor for Gaisano mall operators to carefully tap their best resources in attracting customers in order to maintain its loyalty, giving them a competitive edge against NCCC and SM in attracting more shoppers. SM City clearly shows its best advantages against competitors because of implementing a good positioning and marketing strategy, it caters and answers the needs of shoppers why they want to go to the mall in the first place, because most of the respondents can be categorized as young adults, professionals and fun-loving individuals, their preferences are always be on the entertainment, convenience, elegant products and good mall atmosphere. These shoppers can be easily attracted with a mall atmosphere that is favorable to their lifestyle choices. This result of the most preferred mall in Davao does not follow that most shoppers are price conscious, this only tells that, especially the young respondents, most shoppers prefer an establishment that is highly innovative, friendly, having cool brands of products and offers a terrific environment for socializing with friends. Therefore, the recommendations presented is appropriate as young shoppers are easily attracted to an environment which offers entertainment, greater value of merchandise and stylish amenities, but the purchasing power of the shoppers should not be ignored as shoppers from class C and D are potential market. Mall operators should also balance the elements mall atmosphere innovative products and moderate pricing of the merchandise.

Journey to the Harlem Renaissance Essay -- Harlem Renaissance African

Journey to the Harlem Renaissance As America moves into a more cultural and diversified era, more people are taking the time to learn about the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was the foremost form of freedom for African Americans. It showed blacks that they were becoming equals in American society. The talents of African Americans soared in art, music, literature and especially poetry. The main writers embodying the Harlem Renaissance were Claude McKay, Langston Hughes and Countee Cullen. Claude was born in Jamaica, in 1898. He got his education from his older brother, who â€Å"possessed a library of English novels, poetry and scientific texts.† (Callahan, 784) Claude was a little older when he created his first piece of literary work. He published a book called Songs of Jamaica. It was a â€Å"record of his impressions of black life in Jamaica.† (Callahan,783) In 1912, he finally got to America, where he wrote Harlem Shadows; â€Å"his most important book of poetry.† (Callahan 784) While there, he attended the Tuskegee Institute. In 1914 he moved to Harlem, â€Å"the center of black culture in the U.S.† (Anderson, 704) He later published two sonnets, â€Å"The Harlem Dancer† and â€Å"Invocation†, in 1917. He â€Å"would later use the same poetic form to record his reactionary views on the injustices of black life in America.† (Callahan, 785) In addition to social and political concerns, McKay wrote on a vari ety of subjects, â€Å"from his Jamaican homeland to romantic love, with a use of passionate language.† (Callahan, 785) During the twenties he developed an interest in Communism, so he visited Russia to meet the architects of Russian Communism, Lenin and Trotsky. He also lived in France. When he came back to the U.S., he moved back ... ...hree for the new millennium? Determining Databases and Data Communications Essay

The business we have chosen to review is AT&T. They are currently using the Window 7 and Mac OS x operating systems and Office 2010 as their business software. They also have some equipment-specific software that uses the Linux and some function specific software as GCAS, a mobile dispatch interface or Granite, a visual database program. Using the Windows 7 OS gives AT&T its dependability; many of the other Microsoft operating systems are not as popular or user friendly. Windows 7 is the finest OS Microsoft has created since XP—some might say since Windows 2000. Many users just do not like other versions, like Windows 8 or Windows Vista, but Windows 7 and Microsoft work well for AT&T because of the previous history and familiarity with AT&T’s employees. AT&T has been using a Windows OS ever since Windows first went on the market or very soon thereafter. AT&T also benefits from a much discounted price because of their volume of sales with their employment numbers reaching approximately 260,000. So far, Windows far surpasses other operating systems for business needs, mainly because of its dominance in the marketplace. But more recently AT&T U-Verse technicians rely on mobile devices, including Apple Inc.’s iPads and iPhones, working on the Mac OS X, which launch AT&T-specific applications to dispatch technicians for U-verse customer appointments and to conduct network testing and other daily activities in the field. Today technicians work with far more advanced equipment, mostly digital, to install and maintain a more advanced set of products and services (Stemle, 2012). Windows is also a good fit for the Microsoft Office product which AT&T uses for its word processing, spreadsheet use, the Access database, and the largely popular PowerPoint presentation software. In addition, AT&T uses Outlook for e-mail. This suite of progra ms adds to the discount received from Microsoft for a large volume purchase. The Linux operating system has the advantage of being a  standard in equipment operating systems, especially for the system. The disadvantage is most equipment manufacturers write their own software programs and tend to make it proprietary so it can be expensive and not easily replaceable. AT&T Wireless has been using Granite Systems since 2000 to remove resource redundancy, improve network dependability and accelerate service deployment. Although, specific functional programs have the benefit of solving a specific need, but giving one programming company control over the price and upgrade path. The Craft Access System was a program, developed in 1984 by AT&T subsidiary Bellsouth Telecommunications Advanced Systems Division, which allowed telephone installers and repair technicians to gain access to their work order system by using different handheld PC equipment that connects to a landline telephone system. Now called GCAS, Global Craft Access System, this software is currently used worldwide so dispatchers can send problem notifications and install information to technicians. The technicians can send messages to the dispatchers and receive them also. In addition they can clock in and out, report outcomes for trouble calls, send their location information, and print receipts for customers to sign after the job has been completed (Dispatch and Service Support System, 2014). Determining Operating Systems and Software Applications Table Operating Systems Horizontal-Market Applications Vertical-Market Applications One-of-a-Kind Market Applications AT&T Microsoft MS Windows 7 MS Word Linux Proprietary OS Description of how it is used Users use OS to interface with the computer and its software applications MS Word is a widely accepted word-processing program that can be used for creating documents, letters, flyers, learning activities, and homework assignments for students. To what extent do you agree with Herzsteins view that Nazi propaganda was so successful that it can be called the war that Hitler won Free Essay Example, 1500 words

To what extent do you agree with Herzsteins view that Nazi propaganda was so successful that it can be called the war that Hitler won? The anit-semitic sentiments of the Europeans and especially that of the Germans were converted to an all round attempt to slaughter all the European Jews during the period ranging from 1941 to 1945. This might be credited to the large-scale Nazi propaganda led mainly by Hitler addressing the â€Å"Jewish Question†. The anti-semitic sentiments therefore served as a rationale behind this kind of mass murder but initiated by the strong propaganda where influential speeches were delivered to convey that the Second World War was connected to the Jews and hence not really a coincidence or accidental. During his speech at Reichstag Hitler delivered a speech where he threatened to kill all European Jews if they inflamed such a war. Therefore through heir propaganda the Nazis justified the mass murder of Holocaust by a combination of hatred, self-satis factory resentment and mistrust. The policy of the Nazis ranged from persecution to extermination and this occurred parallel to the radical speeches of the Nazis delivered publicly against the Jews, therefore justifying the effort as a defensive action against the global war against the Germans by the â€Å"International Jewry†1.We will write a custom essay sample on To what extent do you agree with Herzstein's view that Nazi propaganda was so successful that it can be called 'the war that Hitler won' or any topic specifically for you Only $17.96 $11.86/pageorder now In this context, Hertzstein expresses the propaganda as a war won by Hitler. The paper attempts to analyze this along with some opposing views to prove that despite the manipulation and shrewdness of the Nazi agenda, it would not be appropriate to say that Hitler did not win the war through his propaganda. The Nazi propaganda including text and visual depiction of the wartime principles is enriched with the revelation of the reasons behind the anti-semitic thoughts, which led to harassment of the Jews during the Holocaust. The Nazis, starting with Hitler and Goebbels thought about the propaganda as â€Å"mobilizing, manipulating, controlling, directing and (re-) educating the population†2. The western scholars strongly promoted that the utilization of the modern technology formed one of the essential characteristics of the totalitarian nation as per the propaganda. Hence in such a state the population falling to shrewdness and manipulation has been a trademark of a â€Å"totalitarian society†. The authority of the Nazi propaganda over a group of helpless people cannot simply explained by totalitarianism. The propaganda succeeded with respect to earning loyalty of the Germans to Hitler on grounds of idealistic leadership notion or the idea of â€Å"Der Fuher†.
